ABOUT THE LAKE

It's a beautiful spot and only 40 mins drive from Methven.Located only 9kms from the Hakatere Corner, it is the only lake where powerboating is permitted. Swimming, boating, and water skiing activities tend to dominate but during quiet periods the odd quality rainbow often rewards angler effort.

There is a surprising number of quaint holiday homes (or baches as they are called in New Zealand) on the shores of Lake Camp. This lake is also well known by windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts in Canterbury for its consistent winds and on some weekends during the summer, it can be a colourful sight. Head out of town down the Inland Scenic Route 72 south from Methven and take the turn off at Mt Somers to find these amazing lakes.
