Amazing Space - Methven, Mt Hutt, New Zealand

Welcome to the official visitor information website for Methven Mount Hutt, one of New Zealand’s premier skiing & outdoor recreation regions just one hour from Christchurch via the Inland Scenic Route 72.

Over summer people head to Methven to interact with the outdoors, attend local events or to simply refresh and relax in our Amazing Space which is rural and rustic, yet funky and modern.

The region offers visitors an array of hiking & walking experiences; from a short walk suitable for the whole family, to challenging multi-day hikes for the serious tramper. Other popular outdoor activities range from fishing, hunting, golf and hot air ballooning to skydiving, horse riding, jet boating, mountain biking and 4WD high country adventures.

Methven’s farming backbone also comes into its own during summer. Tractors roll in and out of town and as you drive around, combine harvesters, irrigators and fields bursting with colour are common sights.

You will find the friendliness of our locals appealing especially when dining out at one of more than a dozen local eateries from country pubs to first class restaurants.

Over winter Methven is a snow sports magnet with Mt Hutt Ski Area on our doorstep, some of the world’s finest heliskiing country and six Canterbury ski fields all within close distance.

No matter what time of the year you decide to visit us, this website will help you choose from a wide range of Methven accommodation including hotels and luxury B&Bs through to budget backpackers and holiday parks.

Choose the amazing space of Methven for your next holiday!
