While excitement is building for the return of the Speight’s Summit Methven Big Air, Australasia’s up and coming freestyle motocross riders are preparing to showcase their dare-devil skills.

The fanatic FMX riders will entertain the crowd with their death-defying stunts in between the Big Air snowboard and ski action. Riders on the dirt ramp will provide a visual feast as they take on hot FMX moves such as rulers, 9 o’clock max and rock solids.

The current Australasian Freestyle Champion, Kane Saul is the major drawcard with an awesome array of tricks. His most spectacular move, never before seen at a Big Air Event, is his Superman Backflip. Audiences will be wowed as he goes into the back flip in mid air then releases and assumes the flying Superman pose.

Veteran Kiwi rider, Joe McNaughton from Hamilton, is riding while local South Island boys, Bossa Mikkelson from Edendale and Blake O’Connor from Riversdale are also on board to wow the crowd with their full-on stunts.

FMX Event Organiser and rider, Robert Turner, believes the FMX will be the highlight of the night. “To illustrate how good this is going to be I’d say these riders will be on par with the Crusties. It’s a great opportunity to witness first hand the exceptional skills of our Australasian riders”.

After the heart racing action, spectators can party hard at ‘The Rock After Party’ behind the Blue Pub. Leading New Zealand bands Elemeno P, The Valves and Doppler will pump out their beats late into the evening.

The Speight’s Summit Methven Big Air and FMX antics kick off the Methven / Mt Hutt Spring Fest on Saturday 26 September. Gates open at 5pm.
