Jane Stevens returns to Mt Hutt after 15 years, this time as the British Disabled Ski Team Head Coach. Also training with the team under Jane’s keen eye is Adam Hall – NZ’s big medal hope for the 2010 Paralympics in Canada.

Jane last worked at Mt Hutt with the Canterbury Disabled Team in the early 90’s for 4 years before taking a position at Mt Dobson as Ski School Director for 12 years. During that time, while coaching kiwi sensation Adam she was based in Europe for the summers as NZ Disabled Team coach, meeting and assisting the British team with training. The last paralympics at Turino in 2006 saw Jane busy with the NZ Team while doubling as the unofficial British Team Coach – so impressing them; she was promptly headhunted for her current position as full time head coach.

“It’s great to be back at Mt Hutt and see so many familiar faces” says Ms Stevens, who will be based at the ski area for 2 weeks with the British Team and Adam Hall who is training with the group.

Jane says that the British Team are a really good bunch and she is expecting Sean Rose who has 23 International medals and 2 World Cup medals already under his belt to be extremely likely to medal in Canada. The athletes are categorised by their specific disabilities – colloquially described as “Blinkies” (visually challenged), “Wheelies” (seated athletes) and “Bits Missing” which she thinks should be self explanatory!
