Methven / Mt Hutt Spring Fest kicks off from 26th September with a huge line up of events to set bring the village alive.
The Methven Big Air is back and will open the week of events in style outside The Blue Pub. Up at Mt Hutt the the Snowboard Race Guinness Book world record attempt will provide awesome spectator action during the opening weekend of the festival.
On Sunday you can tantalise your taste buds in the Methven Square with the “Farmers Market Mardi Gras”. Later on in the week the kids will be buzzing with the Kids Disco, Drive in Movie, and the Big Rides days. Watch out for the Brown Pub Country Day, strongman/woman competition and some good old fashioned madness and mayhem…and there will be plenty of live music and entertainment all over town throughout the week for those with the urge to party on until late.
Up the mountain we have a chance for businesses and anyone who wants to show off their creative talent in our comical Downhill Dummy race. On Tuesday we have our pro-star Uphill/downhill race and on Friday our famous Pond Skim, always a hit watching people on skis/boards skim across ice cold water. Also, the two stage Mountain Bike race, which sees the first leg on snow and the second leg down the DHNZ mountain bike track, takes place on Wednesday and will feature some of Canterbury’s top Downhill mountain bike riders.
The final weekend of the festival sees the legendary Peak to Pub Race; a chance for competitors, to ski, cycle, and run to the Blue Pub, which takes gasping for a drink to a whole new level! On Sunday the bikers on their Harleys and the hot rod cars will roar into town.
It’s set to be the biggest and best party of the year, expect some awesome spring skiing at Mt Hutt and be entertained in Methven – Why not make this a Spring to remember!
