The crew at Mt Hutt has been unable to get up the mountain after snow fell to 800m on Tuesday night, burying the top half of the access road.
The high country ski resort received around 45cm of snow late last week and another 40cm this week with more in the forecast.
James McKenzie, Assistant Ski Area Manager for Mt Hutt, said staff were working to clear the access road before the next set of snow storms arrive later today (Thurs May 7).
“The latest forecast from the Metservice suggests there's a good chance we'll be looking at a base of well over 1m by the end of the weekend,” he said.
Mt Hutt is scheduled to open on Saturday 13 June.
