Mountain Thunder - Easter Saturday 7 April 2012
The town centre of Methven was once again turned into a motorcycle race track on Easter Saturday for the annual Mountain Thunder event.
Over 100 motorcycles ranging from the Classics right through to Formula One travelled at speeds up to 200kms/hr around the 1km Spring Lynne Motorcycle circuit, bordered by hay bales.
The streets of Methven were bustling with over 4,000 spectators of all ages enjoying the perfect weather, fantastic racing, and stalls packed with food and handy goodies as well as carnival activities.
Mountain Thunder was hosted by the Methven Lions Club who joined with Classic Action Motorcycle Sport (CAMS) from Christchurch to stage the event. Any profits made from the event go back into the local community.
