Skullcandy NZ Big Air Series 2011Aucklanders were treated to an amazing spectacle of ski, snowboard and FMX action on Sunday 5th June, and it was Methven's turn in August as they marked the closing weekend of the 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games. The Skullcandy New Zealand Big Air Series kicked off in Auckland on 5 June. A 17m high ramp made from 30 tons of scaffold and containers held 60 cubic metres of snow provided by Snow Planet and propelled local and international athletes over a 50-foot gap jump. A portable ramp was built for the FMX riders. The Skullcandy NZ Big Air series wrapped up in Methven on 27 August. A 17m ramp outside Methven’s famous Blue Pub was flanked by a FMX riders’ jump and highlighted with a massive fireworks display. The evening finished up with a huge after-party featuring top NZ band The Black Seeds performing in a marquee outside the Blue Pub supported by Left Or Right and The Nomad. Air New Zealand Holidays Auckland Snow ShowOver Queen's Birthday weekend the Auckland Snow Show – back after a five-year hiatus – was set up in marquees around the Big Air zone and hosted local and international exhibitors featuring travel holidays, ski and snowboard equipment, outerwear, rental vehicles, resorts and more with great deals on offer for the public. |
