If mountain biking is your thing, there are many options around Methven; from fun tracks for the whole family (only a few minutes ride from the centre of town) right through to high country tours and challenging downhill tracks.

Mountain bikes and helmets can be hired from Big Al’s Ski & Sports and there are a couple of mountain biking companies who provide guided tours and rides.

For the more adventurous, DHNZ offer several exhilarating, adrenalin filled options. Their mission is to use mountain bikes as an eco friendly and very fun way to show visitors the incredible beauty of New Zealand as well as having a huge amount of fun doing it!

They offer a number of options, depending on several factors: time; ability; and genre of ride. You can choose adventurous downhill, free-ride, out-and-out cross country, gentle descent - just talk to them and they can help you decide on the best option for you.

They also offer a specially-designed tour for more experienced riders, with a strictly downhill and free-ride flavour. Incorporating current and previous national-level downhill courses, these exciting free-ride trails will challenge and excite the best riders. The highly-technical trails will polish handling skills for the summer, or for the up-and-coming race season. (All year round)
