The Methven area offers an amazing heli-ski and heli-board experience – many say it is the best variety of back country helicopter-accessed terrain available in New Zealand. Beyond the headwaters of the Rakaia and Rangitata Rivers, hidden from the Canterbury Plains by the foothills of the Southern Alps there is over 10002 kilometres of mountain and hundreds of named runs to roam, there's scope here for all standards of skiers and boarders. The journey from Methven into the New Zealand high country environment to access these mountains is breathtaking, and the glaciated runs are spectacular. |
