Mt Hutt Ski Area
Mt Hutt Ski Area is defined by its
genuine Kiwi atmosphere.

Porters Ski Area
Best described as a boutique
commercial area, the terrain at
Porters varies from incredibly
steep to one of the better
beginner intermediate slopes in
New Zealand.
Laid-back, affordable and home
to two of NZ's legendary runs,
Porters is the closest ski field to
Christchurch and only a further
20 minutes from Methven than
Mt Hutt is.

Back Country Skiing
Back country skiing is for those
in the pursuit of fresh fallen
snow "powder" or snow which
has not been touched.
There are several options to
access this terrain in the
Methven area: outside of a ski
resorts boundaries, or single /
multi-day trips with snow
camping or staying in mountain
huts where available. Hazards
do exist in the back country so
having a guide can be very
useful.

The Club Fields
Canterbury "Club Fields" are
ski areas operated by small ski
clubs for their members,
however anyone is welcome.
They aren't intended for the
weak hearted, some effort will
be required – you won’t see
any chairlifts here!
